Communicating resilience in an increasingly uncertain world
Betterplace Lab’s research explores how civil society organisations can build resilience and continue creating impact in the face of overlapping crises. Drawing on research into topics such as climate change, political instability, migration, food security and economic uncertainty, the publication examines the characteristics that enable organisations to adapt, endure and thrive.
The challenge was to transform a research-heavy report into a publication that felt approachable, engaging and easy to navigate. Working closely with the project team, I developed a visual language inspired by natural systems of resilience, combining the flexibility of bamboo with the interconnectedness of mycelium networks. This editorial approach helped unify complex research, data visualisations and practical insights into a coherent publication that reflects the report’s central message: resilience grows through adaptability, connection and collaboration.
The result is a publication that enables Betterplace Lab to communicate rigorous research in a format that is accessible, visually engaging and easy to explore, helping the organisation share its findings with civil society leaders, policymakers and partners.
